Ambienta enters sustainable agriculture with Agronova acquisition

Ambienta has acquired Agronova Biotech, marking its first move into sustainable agriculture. With over 800 biological crop solutions, Agronova helps reduce chemical use and improve soil health. The acquisition aligns with growing global demand for eco-friendly farming and positions both companies to expand across Europe and the Americas with sustainable growth strategies.

Ambienta, a European asset manager focused on sustainability, has made its first investment in the agricultural space by acquiring Agronova Biotech, a leading provider of sustainable farming solutions. Based in Spain, Agronova develops biological alternatives to traditional chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Their more than 800 products, including biostimulants and biocontrols, support farmers in managing both environmental stress and pests, while improving nutrient uptake through organic sources. The acquisition, made from Magnum Industrial Partners and the Casanova family, positions Ambienta at the heart of a sector increasingly under pressure to decarbonize and preserve biodiversity.

With global agriculture contributing significantly to greenhouse gas emissions and soil degradation, the demand for biosolutions is accelerating. Agronova operates five laboratories and six production facilities across key farming regions in Europe and the Americas. According to Ambienta, the biosolutions market has reached $21 billion and continues to grow due to regulatory shifts and consumer expectations for eco-conscious farming. This deal not only gives Ambienta a foothold in the biological crop input space, but also extends its operational footprint into new geographies. The company plans to drive Agronova’s growth through a mix of organic development and strategic acquisitions.

Agronova’s CEO Olivier Lavaud highlighted the shared vision between the two companies, noting that Ambienta’s backing will unlock new opportunities to support the transition toward environmentally responsible farming. Ambienta’s CIO Mauro Roversi added that the acquisition reflects both a strategic sector entry and a valuable expansion into the Spanish market. As demand rises for alternatives to synthetic chemicals, Agronova is well-positioned to help reshape agriculture through sustainable farming solutions that are scalable, science-driven, and environmentally sound.
